Hey Oppo I’ve been following a guy on youtube named B is for build, his channel consists of buying cars in auctions from insurance companies and turning them into project cars, DD’s, and anything else. Has anyone on Oppo ever actually purchased a crashed salvaged titled car at a auction like this and made it into a fun car? Ive been looking online and getting a BRZ or a older Corvette would make for a excellent fun car to repair and make it into what you want. What seems to be the best part about these types of vehicles is that mistakes are okay and it looks like a fantastic place to start learning more about vehicles while not worrying about ruining anything. Here are some examples of his videos, go check out his channel!

I’ve never done it myself, but my second Miata, a ‘91, was a rebuilt salvage. It was obvious from the power driver’s mirror on a car not equipped with power mirrors as well as a lousy oversprayed paint job. But mechanically, that car was solid, and is still alive and well today. I wouldn’t rule out a car just because it has a salvage title.

The big question is how difficult is it to get a totaled car put back on the road where you live? Some places require a strict inspection to make sure the car is roadworthy again, while other places don’t really care.

This guy’s pretty great, he makes no pretense about being an expert and just seem like a cool stand up jalopy.

12/10 would recommend also.

Just about every car I’ve owned has been a crashed salvage car that I’ve repaired. Sometimes it goes really well, sometimes it goes really terrible. One of my current fun cars is a 2004 Roush Mustang that I picked up for around 4k in 2006. I’ve had fun painting it a crazy color and modifying it to my liking...not something I’d normally do with a car that rare.

Feel free to ask questions! Big hint: avoid Copart!
